   That, of course, is the great Leon Arras, master of a thousand wrestling holds, aka Brian Glover, sometime actor, and, on one occasion, God. (In Tony Harrison’s version of The Mysteries.)

   Since Glover is both Charlton and God, it follows that Bobby Charlton is God, that God’s in his heaven, and therefore, as Robert Browning rightly pointed out: all’s well with the world, especially since we defeated Chelski on the supreme penalties.
