It’s hardly necessary for me to point out that the United States did not receive national health care in return for its acquiescence in the murder of tens of thousands of European civilians.
I think Hitchens is taking things a bit too far here and thus missing the real reason Hillary should not be Commander in Chief. First, let’s deal with his argument–Bill didn’t go into Bosnia because Hillary had a dmosetic agenda. Might as well blame Clinton’s campaign promise to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military (a promise that had to be watered down to a don’t ask, don’t tell policy—which allowed homosexuals to serve while in the closet) for Bosnia. For truth be told, the battle over homosexuals in the military (recall that in 1990s, the gay rights movement had only just reached the military and Americans back then were not at all sure how they felt about gays in the military) took up a heck of a lot more of the public’s attention than the health care debates.
Money is hard to follow. Most of us (or am I projecting?) have a hard time balancing our checkbook. A movement that has as its creed the right to love is not nearly so difficult to understand.
Now, let’s look at what Hillary actually said when she admitted to “mis-remembereing” being shot at. I mean what sorts of things do people generally forget? I guess it varies with the person–me I can’t remember what I wore yesterday. Jeans and something, I guess. Those are the sort of things I forget. The things that are really not terribly important (at least to me).
So if Hillary forgot about being shot at, then being shot at must not be terribly important. So when our men and women are getting shot at, that’s not really such a big deal. That’s the other thing Hillary was saying–and something btw, that almost everyone missed.
This woman wants to be our Commander in Chief and she tells our men and women that it’s entirely possible they may forget having been shot at. Why? Because being shot at is not important. Winning Pennsylvania on the other hand–now That’s important!

Red in tooth and claw:

So many people go to Bosnia and pretend that they’re hard.
