The main reason I link to this piece is I don’t think it has the prominence it should have on the webnet.

Aye, that Vulliamy article is excellent and should be reprinted whenever possible. It’s also worth remembering that the revisionism and denial of the RCPers doesn’t end with Bosnia–they did the same thing with Rwanda. These people are scum of the highest order.

Forgive me for getting confused, but I am at a loss to see just how such people choose sides. Here we have Serbs (possible Soviet sympathisers, anti-Muslim, but scarcely Socialists) trying to exterminate (mostly) Muslims. Niall Ferguson saw the primary motivation for this and other murderous wars as being primarily racist, rather than cultural, and certainly not political. So why would such a motley group as Fay Weldon, Doris Lessing, Harold Evans, Toby Young, etc. make common cause with some neo-Stalinists? As for LM, there is a large degree of intellectual laziness, such as characterises much “post-modern discourse”, but why not side with the underdogs and fellow jew haters - the Muslims?
Could it have something to do with the fact that the only people who saw this conflict for what it was were the Americans? This is visceral Lord of the Flies brutality.
