Is This new?

by Will, 6 February 2008

I haven’t a fucking clue anymore…there’s just too much to keep abreast of now. Fuck me. Please. Fuck me.

Fuck it — read Peter’s post and Hakmao’s post below here again — time better spent.

Fuck! I forgot TG’s post as well. That’s good as well. Read that again — go on — follow the links in it and read the whole fucking lot.

Ignore Sedgy’s post though — well apart from reading it and looking at the picture and that — who he links to I don’t particualarly fancy.

Might be just me — I don’t know — maybe I’m a bit strange and that.

    Where was I again?

Oh Yes. There’s a Hitchen’s Utube up there - he’s in debate with wankstained tossers as usual. He fucks them over (intellectually of course — (none of that funny business) and then he goes home to his missus full of the drink and that and writes something for some yank publication and gets paid a fucking fortune for it.

Better him than a load of other fucking tossers I could think of.

moral of the story: be Hitchens.

Yes — I know — bad form to comment on your own post first.

    [the shame - the shame]

I watched the whole thing when I should have been working.

These were not the usual tossers he’s up against. The big fella he was debating is a good bloke. A defender of the sciences and empiricism generally. Pro-Darwin, not a run-of-the-mill creationist, nor a proselytizer, but a lad with a good mind that got addled; came to religion by some trauma of seeing a dog get hit by a car and dying slowly or something, and I won’t laugh at him for that.

It was a proper vigorous and respectful debate, and of course the God guy lost, but he got a couple of licks in, and good for him. He trounced Hitchens on the bourbon-versus-scotch question, I thought.

This is another one of those rare debates that has a tube of it, with Hitchens among ordinary and decent Americans, away from the fashionable venues and Ivy leagues and big-city wise-guys, down south among red-dirt, bible-and-brimstone crackers. And he was shown every kindness, and made welcome as an honoured son in his father’s house.

Which is a thing to like about Yanks.

Just when I’m working myself up into another indignant lather about them, they will go and be like that.
