Norm’s crap about national anthems — he missed one — here it is in Finnish — great because it negates all the balls and fucking effluent that is the political content of all the others.

I think the point of the anthem thing is not how keen one is on the country concerned, its govt. or the lyrics. It’s more like the opposite, how much does it move you against your better judgement..

The Internationale was and remains best, but with a teary eye I will recall the valiant attempt by our neighbours to the immediate south to make Louie Louie the state song of Washington state, which attempt began with the Whatcom County Council’s adoption of a petition to the state legislature in 1985.
