Pish on a Friday
by Will, 17 January 2008
Anyone else see this pish the other day?
“Having a solidly middle-class family with relatives, as well as a brother, currently at Oxford, unquestionably helped.”
You don’t fucking say. Ignore the rest — as ever — it’s fucking worthless crap.
However, to save you some time… of course this particular cretin sees himself as weely wadical, questioning why opportunities like his are not open to all. He actually makes a few good points along the way but seems to focus on everyone wanting his own experience, without realising that someone like me is eternally grateful that I, like many others, went outside of Oxbridge wankland - the answer to his question at the end is personal ambition. He will end up wealthy with a ridiculous column on the Guardian Comments pages or just simply cease to give a fucking toss. That, or end up commenting ad nauseum at Harry’s Place from a log cabin in Montana.
This past week there has been agonising why more people from state schools don’t apply to Oxford and Cambridge and the obvious answer that being stuck in a pathetic, shitty, overblown crap town for three/four years with a bunch of cunts being taught (aka ritually humiliated) by a load of thick posturing tossers who think they are some sort of intellectual elite might not be the greatest fun in the world, this doesn’t seem to have occurred to anyone inside the fucked-up bubble that passes for an existence of our ‘betters’.
These are the sort of people (word used in its most abstract form) who follow, and put on a pedestal, second-rate middlebrow dreck that’s designed to appeal to the upper middle class dweebs who donate money to green charidees and think they’re sophisticated because they watch shit on BBC2 instead of Big Brother or read The Times or Guardian instead of The Mirror.
Oxbridge = more fucking tossers to delete! Let’s get fucking to it!
