Sheridan arrested
by hakmao, 16 December 2007
Tommy Sheridan, the man who destroyed the SSP, has been arrested in Edinburgh and is being questioned by police in connection with perjury allegations.
Nine officers from Lothian and Borders police have detained the politician’s wife Gail at the house in the Cardonald area of Glasgow while they carry out a search of the property, it was confirmed by his lawyer.
…..
The 43-year-old was approached by police as he left talk107 radio station in Edinburgh, where he presents a show.
Victor Serge wrote:
All those who approached him know that he was disinterested and conceived of his whole existence only as part of a great historic task, which was not his alone, but that of the movement of the socialist masses conscious of the perils and possibilities of our period.
Not Tommy …
Update: Sheridan has now been charged.

This has cheered me right up.

While I am pleased when anyone manages to stick it to Murdoch, the whole sorry episode has always been destined to end in tears. The bastard sacrificed the SSP to his own ego and need to portray himself as the bourgeois family man. He should do the honourable thing.

There’ll be dancing in the streets of Govan tonight.
Well there will be once I get out.

I don’t know anything about this guy or his history, but a police raid on his house for a perjury charge? Seems a bit much.

Surely you can permit me to stand here gloating?

The man deserves due process, so let’s not jump to conclusions. When the law finally catches up with Galloway, I’ll demand due process for him as well.

I wonder if Mike Gonzalez is feeling a little nervous? He should be. I have to say it’s rather sad - and I’m finding the comments like these from those desparately trying to believe the best pathetic in a quite heart-breaking way. And all because Sheridan couldn’t bring himself to say his private life was his own business. He’s a complete and utter wank - but I still wouldn’t care to see him jailed when you consider who he was up against in the first place.
