I still meet conservatives who daily scorn the apparent inefficiencies and abuses of state-run schools and hospitals, and yet also maintain that this same blundering state should hold the power of life and death over its citizens.

    Burden of evidence.

    They’re forever bumping into progressives that cannot a trust the state to make a correct decision after examining the minutest details of a case, yet believe the same state best able to provide healthcare and education for everyone.
