Fisk upsets my day
by Scoop Shachtman, 31 October 2007
I find little to disagree with in this Robert Fisk article (apart from the point that he lazily blames the US for supplying Saddam with gas, when evidence suggests Europe and others were the bigger culprits) .
I am going to find somewhere to lie down.

There were reports in the US press about chemical plants built by the Bechtel Corporation in Iraq during the 70’s and early 80’s. They supposedly manufactured dual-use chemicals. Bechtel’s top two executives at the time were Caspar Weinberger and George Schultz, who became Defense Secretary and Secretary of State in Reagan’s administration.

In terms of both conventional and non-conventional arms US provision to Iraq was utterly swamped by that Western European and Russian supplies, and yet for some reason the US supplies are the most important because?

USSR/Warsaw Pact: 68.9%
France: 12.7%
China: 11.8%
Others: 4.8%

I know the feeling, Scoop, it is a traumatic experience for the best and strongest.
The reason is, I guess, that Fisk’s articles recently are devoid of any, even objectionable, content. The poor puppy is running dry of bile.
