    Bernard Kouchner made some excellent points in that interview, but I don’t think he handled at all well the initial questions from Humphrys. It reminded me of a performance by José Manuel Barroso on Newsnight, in which the European Commission President addressed the already wound-up Jeremy Paxman as “My dear”.

    I have little time for John Humphrys, who could be described as Jeremy Paxman without the intelligence, wit, political nous and attention to detail. But Kouchner has in my view made a bit of an arse of himself, what with his public comments about al-Maliki, and the recent sabre rattling over Iran.
