Wierder than fiction

Although this blog tends to focus on other Maddy news, as I looked at the photos (helpfully, nearly in 16:9 aspect ratio) at the top of this news item about the Madeleine McCann story I got the sudden feeling that, whatever the eventual outcome, somewhere somebody is already writing a screenplay for a two part ITV drama we could do without in 2010.

Question: will it gain free publicity?
    Answer: yes.

Question: will lots of schmucks watch it, like they did, have been and do for Diana?
    Answer: yes.

Hence a program is a certainty. A McCann drama would, regardless of taste, story or acting, still bring in the punters and boost the ratings. Probably a couple of mill audience. Channel 4 might go for it first though.

    Depends who the culprit is:

Sadly tortured parent with inner contradictions - Channel 4

Disturbed loner who yearns for a child - ITV

Crazed serial killer with weird eyes and sharp teeth - Channel 5

    Mr D’Arcy - BBC 1

    I will bet on 2008, but I’m an optimist…
