According to those Eurobarometer survey things (sorry, no links at hand), the average European is even more ignorant of science than the average American. Now that’s frightening.
By the way, the real thicko in that first video is the questioner. It’s not 20 per cent of all Americans, it’s 6 per cent of 16-to-24-year-olds, which is probably much the same as the level of map-related young adult thickosity in the rest of the world:
